We would like to know how to mark these turtles with a tracker system that would tell us where they are. We used to mark these turtle’s shell with a sharpie mark, or fingernail polish, but it would come off.

Thats really,,, not sure what to say. But if you got the money to do this and if its really important to you to know were your turtles are in your backyard and if its THAT big. Then I would get some sort of GPS system going there. Were you can attach little boxes onto the turtles shells and have a little reciever were you can see where each one is.
I dont know, but i think you have to have a license to do it but i dont k ow that either. also when you do find out let me know cause ide love to do it my e-mail is…wuth kind of box turtles are you trying to track?
Get a little kids wade pool and set that up like a mini habitat for them. Do not leave them outside at night unless you have a top that you can secure over the area. Raccoons and coyote as well as other carnivores love turtle.
You’re kidding, right? Radio-tracking systems are expensive and really unnecessary unless your back yard is the size of the King Ranch. Attaching the senders is really uncomfortable for the turtle too. It is not something for amateurs to play around with.
The traditional marking method is to use a triangular file to notch the margins of the shell. Fingernail polish should last for a few months, though.
