		<description>The people are probably catching the turtles for food. More than likely they are snapping turtles or pond sliders, both are used to make soups or fried like chicken. Quite tasty actually, I have had both in the past. They do go into a shock state because they are taken out of their natural environment. No source other than living on a farm, with ponds, for most of my 35 years. As long as they do not over fish the pond of turtles, they will survive and replenish them self, its good to remove a few, so they don&#039;t become overpopulated.</description>
