What are the side effects of desert turtles?

I heard that desert turtles cause some sort of disease when you own them as a pet.. is that true? please i really need to know more about them.. and is it true that they could live up to 500 years?

    i guess you could get salmonella, but it’s pretty rare unless you put the tortoise or its ***** in your mouth.
    They don’t live anywhere NEAR 500 years.

    you are always suppose to wash your hands after handling pets. The desert tortises do not cause any diseases.
    They live about 60-80 years. With good health, it could live even longer.
    If you plan to get one, please check out the links below…you got lots of homework to do.
    They get pretty big and unless you can devote the time and place for it. Stick with a smaller tortoise like a box turtle.
