		<description>smallest-the size of a quarter,discovered in Africa about 10 years ago;the largest-the leather back sea turtle,1,500-2,500 lbs. considering it&#039;s not a Galapagos,Aldebaran or silicate.and if it is a tortoise (no webs on the feet).and is a native species of north America,it shouldn&#039;t grow much more than a foot and weigh no more than 2-3 lbs.i would suggest contacting the California turtle and tortoise society.I&#039;m sorry i don&#039;t have an e mail but you should be able to find it .good luck,let me know.my e mail is.</description>

		<description>North American turtles don&#039;t really get all the big, unless you&#039;re talking about the snapping turtle. 

I&#039;d say a really large box turtle&#039;s shell might get about 12 inches long. By the way with some species that pinch in the bottom of the shell means it a male.</description>
