I have 2 yellow belly turtles. They have both slowed down on their eating. Does the change of the season have anything to do with this?

Maybe they are getting ready to mate!
Depending on where you live, yes, they could be getting ready to hibernate. If you’re in a temperate zone where it freezes in winter, I’d say definitely. Only offer food if they want it.Get them a nice cozy bed….
Let them eat PIZZA. Turtles loves it even the ninja turtles loves it.
Turtles start to want to hibernate based on temps and light cycles. The problem is that in most set-ups, the outside lighting is trigger hibernation, but the warmer temps indoors does not let them fully go into hibernation mode and they tend to stop eating and often waste away.
The best way to overcome this is to set up a heater to keep the tank at 75-80 and install some good lighting (ideally with UV) to ‘trick’ them into thinking it is still summer with 10 hour long days.
