My mom wants a fish tank with some animals, like snails, fish, and a turtle.
I know you can put snails and fish in the same tank, but what about turtles? Would a turtle need a seperate tank?
I don’t mind the turtles eating fish, I was just wondering if they could be kept together is all.
We don’t plan on keeping tropical fish with the turtle. Just regular fish you’d find at petsmart you know?
Also, if they turtle was to eat the snail would that hurt the turtle?

depends…the turtle might eat the fish if they’re small enough.
It depends on the type of fish and type of turtle you have because turtles eat fish.
well… it depends. there are some fish that turtles will eat. and unless you want feeder fish then i would advise you to not put turtles in with the fish. also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do your research on turtles FIRST! turtles are not like fish! they need heat lamps and basking places and a whole lot of other stuff too so if you do get turtles please get a pet turtle care book!!
It all depends on breeds, but
t with the right combinations it is possible!
As long as the fish you pair the turtle with arent tiny you can do a set up like this. However, this would require a rather large tank to accomadate both a turtle and the larger fish.
Turtles will go after small fish that they can easily catch and devour but I have seen great set ups with some larger fish like oscars and some red eared sliders.
sometimes the snails can hurt the turtle because of the slime on its skin, i recommend feeding the lettuce carrots and crickets at any pet store
Sure. Feeder fish.
What’s the point of keeping an aquarium if all the fish disappear within a few hours of putting them in? If the turtle is big enough, it will eat them all right then and there. And if you put larger fish, they may just pester eachother. Unless you purposely buy those fish to be food, it’s absolutely pointless and a waste of money to put them in with a turtle. Snails would not harm the turtle, that they are slimey has nothign to do with turtles! But they aren’t nutritionally beneficial, and if they have a hard shell, may be difficult for the turtle to swallow and digest, and might injure it internally.
I know this from experience dont put your turtle with the fish, or you will be missing snails, and fish by morning. I have 5 red eared sliders, and they love fish. They ate all the fish that was in my tank so I started feeding them feeders as a treat. They got big quick. They came from Myrtle Beach , they were the size of a quarter, now they are the size of my fist. so, I would use separate tanks. You will love them (turtles) if you get some. They are so cool to watch!
Yes, u really can. Just get the big turtles and the big fish in the same tank and the little turtles with little fish; if they are put together with different sizes then the turtle will start wanting to eat the fish..
Turtle love little fishies. Yumm.
Most turtles will leave snails alone. Some. like map turtles, eat them and have no ill effects.
