I keep them in a large tank which has a ramp allowing them to climb out. We recently put a combustion heater in our family room and now Tiptup likes to climb out of the tank onto the ramp. She never did this before. Why do turtles do this? The water is cooler than the ambient temperature so it isn’t because she is too hot. Is it to bask in the heat? If you don’t know the answer do you know any websites I can refer to?
Amanda W, I looked at your website and YOU ARE A HIPOCRITE. I MEAN 5. I HAVE 2 and how the hell do you know how big the tank is?
To add on that, I guarentee you that I would know more about taking care of animals than you, don’t judge someone you don’t know, I take very good care of my pets.
For Madskin, why would you ‘hope’ anything, would have you said anything if I didn’t have a large tank. Ten gallons per inch of turtle. I live in Australia and don’t know how much a gallon is but I know that it is more than a litre and there is a fair bit of water in the tank.
I just want to know before I get my pet turtles how to prevent getting salmonella from my turtles~!~ And is there a way to tell if my turtle has it?
And can it be treated?
What do I do to not get salmonella?
I found a bunch of baby turtles down by my pond. They are all about 2 inches long. I grabbed about 2 dozen of them to feed to my octopus. Do you think that she will be OK eating them?
im looking for a pet shop in markham or near markham where i can buy a turtle
Do pet turtles get bored in their tanks? My mother is worried that our new baby turtle has nothing to play with, even though to us he seems perfectly content! Do they get bored and what keeps them happy? Can we keep 2 turtles in the same tank? We’ve heard they are territorial but do they get used to each other?
I know this seems like a funny question but I have wondered this ever since we got our turtle. When we pet his shell (so-to-speak) sometimes he moves and other times he doesn’t seem to notice. Thanks to all who reply. Serious answers only please
