We have 2 red eyed slider pet turtles. They are both small and live in a glass aquarium. Both are very active and eat very well. We feed them once a day with some Tetra pellets for turtles. We do not have a sunny window, so we let them run around outside for apx. an hour per day. Recently, they have developed some small soft spots on the underside of their shells. We are not near a vet so I am hoping to get some simple advice as to how we can help them. Incidently, we do have some smooth rocks in the aquarium so they can get out of the water and dry off. Is the problem a diet issue or lack of sun or both?? Thanks for any help.
The turtle is not going to be mine, my friend wanted to know the price for one. I have my pet hamster to take care of.
I have a turtle and it hibernates in it’s tank. When he does he doesn’t move around and look for food. He is hibernating right now and it is not winter time.
I know it can be done, I watched a documentary on turtles that knew martial arts, and they were only teenagers at the time.
Also, my pet turtle keeps taking bites of my pizza when I’m not looking. How can I break him of this habit?
Whats the most common species of domestic pet turtle?
Where can I get that pet in the U.S. (pet store preferably)?
How long would that species of store bought turtle live?
Are they fun and if so what ways how?
How much would the costs for one add up to for one year?
How much is the turtle?
I had one back in the 70′s. You could buy a clear pastic “habitat” that had room for water, and a little island in it.
In some vague corner of my mind I think I remember that they were outlawed in the U.S. for some reason. I know I haven’t seen any in years.
Just curious.
I want like a little pet turtle for my room to keep in like a little aquarium with the water. But i dont know what kind of turtle stays like really small and doesnt get big, that lives in the aquarium. If anyone knows, please tell me !! Thanks!!
