I have observed turtles during trips to the pet store and they are always sleeping on top of one another, just wondering if anyone knows why they do that? Thanks for the info. Have a good one!

Yesterday, I purchased two Asian Wood Turtles. The petshop owner told me that they are still young. They are about 4 inches large. I am keeping the in a very very large glass and wire reptile tank. I have three types of lighting: A ceramic heat lamp, a black light, and a long UV light. I have a bowl for drinking and soaking. I have been feeding them a mixture of veggies and turtle food. For bedding, I have some type of wood reptile chips. What else do I need to do to take care of them? I also have a heat rock that is suppose to be very safe and not burn whatever is using it. I haven’t placed this in their home tho. Woudl they enjoy something like this? I want my turtles to be very happy. Please help! Any advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance!

Okay, now that I have established that my turtles are male and female I need to ask: When are they mature enough to produce offsprings?? What do I have to watch out for in case this happens? Where will they lay their eggs? My tank only has a basking area, no sand or anything like that. I wonder if they need sand or something like that to lay eggs? What do I do if this happens at some point? And thank you for all your previous answers. tks

The turtles are red eared sliders. I haven’t put any type of soap in the tank. I’ve cleaned and changed the filter. I’ve skimmed the tank of all waste and food product that may have been floating around. Help.

I know some turtles are protected, but is it illegal to eat the ones that aren’t, like snapping turtles?

We would like to know how to mark these turtles with a tracker system that would tell us where they are. We used to mark these turtle’s shell with a sharpie mark, or fingernail polish, but it would come off.

I feed my turtles in there usual everyday tank but ive heard its better to feed them in a seprate tank because the food makes the tank dirty. So i guess im going to get a little thing i can feed them in. Is that a good idea?
